WEEK
3 – Climate Action Project
The
Climate Action Project is an international project that offers opportunities to
both teachers and students to contribute towards taking care of the climate in
authentic ways. The main goal of the initiative is to change students’
behaviour and societies’ mindset through this 6 week long project, for being
more sensitive towards the environment.
Blue
Bells Public School is being represented by a team of 25 teachers and students
as a part of the project.
The
activity for Week 3 was’ Local to Global’ . The students explored the
causes and effects of climate change, locally and globally. As a part of the
same, the students of BBPS had an International Connect with Colegio Positivo International
School, Brazil.
The
students from the two countries shared their local climatic problems, solutions
and how the government , local bodies , citizens and students are working
together towards the common goal of taking care of climatic conditions. They
also discussed how each human is
impacting the global climate .
The
online exchange program started with a beautiful welcome song followed by a
presentation from BBPS explaining the effects of climate change, measures taken
by the school like zero plastic use, RO water recycling, practicing 3R's,
segregation of waste, use of CNG buses, carpooling etc. to protect the climate and
reduce carbon footprints. The students also presented a cultural dance
depicting the Navratri festival celebration across India which was applauded by
all the spectators.
The
presentations were then given by the Brazilian students explaining the problems
of droughts, floods and other calamities that have been caused in Brazil due to
climate changes and how they are trying to overcome these problems. The students
also presented a glimpse of their culture by presenting a melodious song.
Towards
the end, the students of both the countries took a Pledge to Save Planet Earth.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Meenakshi Malhotra, Primary Wing Leader, Blue Bells Public School. It was an enriching experience for all the participants.
